Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has broken more box office records over the weekend, and is now the highest-grossing anime movie ever in the US.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the first movie in a trilogy detailing the dramatic conclusion to the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series.
The plot sees Tanjiro Kamado joining the Demon Slayer Corps when his family is killed by one such monster, but his mission to wipe them out is complicated by the fact that his sister was turned into a demon during the same attack.
Zach Aguilar reprises his role as Tanjiro, while Channing Tatum has joined the voice cast of the American dub as new character Keizo. And the anime had a massive opening weekend in the US, followed by another record-breaking turn in its second weekend.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle breaks US box office record

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle added another $17.3 million at the domestic box office over the weekend, bringing its North American total to $104.7 million and global haul to $555 million.
This makes it the highest-grossing anime movie of all time in the US and Canada, beating the likes of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train ($506.4 million), Your Name ($405.3 million), Spirited Away ($395.5 million), and Suzume ($323.6 million).
But this isn’t the first record it’s broken. The new movie opened with an estimated $70 million haul in US cinemas, which was the biggest opening ever for an anime title in North America.
Indeed, Infinity Castle destroyed the previous record, which was Pokemon: The First Movie’s $31 million haul way back in 1999.
The film also scored the biggest opening of the year so far for an animated title, as well as the top September animated debut of all time, not adjusted for inflation.
