The One Piece anime, based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga series of the same name, is deep into the Egghead Arc right now, with the latest episode being a masterclass in tension as the world prepares for Vegapunk’s broadcast.
Yes, that means it featured a lot of build-up, but it gave One Piece a chance to revisit characters from across the seas, while also teasing the Five Elders arriving on Egghead to step in.
Best of all is Gear 5 Luffy taking on Kizaru and St. Saturn, proving why he’s such a threat to the World Government, all of which builds to an explosive cliffhanger ending.
Why One Piece Episode 1143 has dislikes
Everything from the plot to the animation has been praised by One Piece fans, with Episode 1143 being rated 8.6 out of 10 on IMDb. This makes it all the more surprising that more than 1,600 Crunchyroll subscribers have given it a dislike.
Granted, this is far outweighed by the 28,600 thumbs up on the streaming service, but it’s still left some fans confused.
Taking to Reddit, one asked, “Why does Episode 1143 have more than 1000 dislikes? The episode was really good, in my opinion. Pacing was good, far from bad and the animation was great especially towards the end. Can someone explain?”
Another responded to the post with a theory: One Piece lovers aren’t happy about the one-week wait for Episode 1144. “I think people disliked it out of frustration that they have to wait another week,” they replied. “I think they might be anime watchers only.”

The Five Elders assemble in Episode 1144 preview
Reaction aside, excitement is building for Episode 1144, ‘The Worst Nightmare – The Five Elders Come together’, which will drop on Crunchyroll on September 21, 2025.
In a new teaser trailer for the upcoming episode, the narrator says, “Black lightning strikes again on the battlefield. Deformed shadows writhing on pentagrams bring back the nightmarish memory of St. Saturn’s arrival.
“When the formidable Five Elders assemble in their true forms, an invasion of terror begins.”
Over on Reddit, one fan said, “If anyone told me that the all Five Elders would show up on Egghead, I would not have believed them. The climax is going to be more intense than I thought. Wow!
“Also, Luffy throwing Kizaru and Saturn like a Frisbee was so funny. I can’t wait for the next episode.”
“Holy f**k that preview for next episode,” commented another, while a third added, “My most anticipated episode of Egghead is almost here!”
