Asmongold claims Assassin’s Creed Shadows has one big problem holding it back

Asmongold talking

Assassin’s Creed Shadows review scores are finally out and popular Twitch Streamer, Asmongold, has given his early impressions, pointing out his biggest issue is with combat.

Asmongold has been busy playing through Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the latest game in Ubisoft’s stealthy series. Despite the controversy surrounding Yasuke and the game’s representation of the feudal Japan era, Shadows has received positive reviews from critics.

While it’s still early days for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Asmon has given his early impressions, and he has one major criticism that he believes holds it back.

Asmongold not a fan of AC shadows combat

“My expectation of the game was that it would be ok, and that’s about where we’re at. The only real criticism I have of the game right now is that combat seems very one-dimensional, especially after Rise of the Ronin. There’s just not as much to it in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.”

While Shadows does feature unique weapons and abilities for its dual protagonists, Asmon believes Rise of the Ronin features a more complex combat system. As mentioned in our review, players need to switch between Combat Styles, Martial Skills, and capitalize on enemy weaknesses using different weapons.

However, despite this complaint, the streamer didn’t have any glaring issues that prevented him from enjoying his first three hours in Shadows.

“The story is ok – I don’t have a very strong opinion on it one way or another, explained the streamer. However, one area in which Asmon was pleasantly surprised was the Shadows’ expansive environments.

The atmosphere and design of the world is pretty good,” he wrote after exploring an early section of the Izumi Coast. “Some of the stuff is pretty cool, like [the hidden] caves.” Asmon was particularly excited when he made his way through one such cave and was rewarded with some Legendary loot.
