How to transmog weapons & armor in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Assassin's Creed Shadows Naoe gameplay

Changing the look of your favorite weapons or armor pieces in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is made easy with the transmog system. Here’s how it works and how you can tweak your appearance at the press of a button.

Any experienced Assassin’s Creed player will know all too well that loot is at the heart of the experience. Almost every quest or piece of side content rewards some amount of loot, be it new armor, new weapons, or the like.

Shadows is no different, with plenty of equipment filling up your inventory before long. Thus, you’re bound to run into the inevitable issue before long. One piece of gear looks cooler than another, but that other piece has superior stats. What are you to do?

Well, like any good RPG, thankfully, Shadows features a transmog system allowing you to get the best of both worlds. Here’s how it works so you can favor style while still equipping the best gear possible.

How transmog feature works in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

When you have enough equipment at your disposal, Shadows provides the ability to ‘Customize’ its appearance. In essence, this lets you pick and choose how every single piece of armor and every single weapon appears.

All six slots (yes, including your horse’s saddle), can be customized visually. Simply tap the Triangle input on PlayStation, the Y input on Xbox, or the matching input on keyboard, and you’ll be taken to a new menu. Here, you can change the appearance of an item.

Customizing your appearance is dead simple in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Select the new visual style you prefer and when you pop out of the menu, you’ll be fit with that particular aesthetic.

For peace of mind, it’s worth noting that you can actually dispose of undesired gear at any stage. Even after it’s sold or converted to scraps, you’ll still have it as an option when customizing the visual appearance of any other gear.

Changing appearance of weapons & armor for both characters

Of course, the transmog feature works for both Naoe and Yasuke in AC Shadows. Both protagonists are able to customize their head and body pieces, along with their three weapons, and their charm to boot.

You can keep the strongest stats while looking the part with your favorite design.

Say you unlock an awesome piece of Legendary equipment for Naoe, but its stats just aren’t quite there. You can keep its visual appearance while using another bit of equipment entirely.

The same applies for Yasuke once he enters the fold as well, and the process is identical for both characters in the menus. Simply hold the Square or X input to change characters.
