Battlefield 6 players warned about scam ads that steal your Steam account

Battlefield fans are warning the community to stay vigilant after scam adverts for Battlefield 6 are currently cropping up on Reddit, tricking players with fake playtest invites that attempt to steal Steam accounts.

A post on the Battlefield subreddit flagged the issue after multiple ads began appearing across Reddit, promoting what looked like early access opportunities for DICE’s upcoming shooter.

However, the links don’t lead to official EA or Steam pages but instead redirect to a fraudulent site designed to mimic Steam’s login portal. It’s here where unsuspecting players are tricked into handing over their Steam login credentials.

Anyone who enters their details risks losing access to their entire Steam account, along with linked payment methods and game libraries. The pages are styled to look authentic, but careful users can spot the suspicious domain names that give them away.

Fake Battlefield 6 playtest ads spotted by fans

Community members have been quick to issue warnings, stressing that EA has not announced any Battlefield 6 playtests and reminding others that official tests are always handled through trusted EA and Steam channels. The subreddit thread has since gained traction, with dozens of players urging Reddit to remove the malicious ads.

This isn’t the first time scammers have exploited hype around major shooters. Call of Duty: Warzone players have been targeted by cheat tools that doubled as malware, with Activision warning in 2021 that popular “free hacks” for the game were actually droppers capable of stealing data or installing malicious payloads.

For now, players are advised to avoid clicking any Battlefield 6 adverts on Reddit and to double-check URLs carefully. Genuine Steam pages will always end with “steampowered.com” or “steamcommunity.com.” Enabling two-factor authentication is also recommended as an extra safeguard.

The warning serves as a reminder that while anticipation for Battlefield 6 is high, official announcements will come directly from EA and DICE, not from a random Reddit ad.
