Black Ops 6 feels more like old-school Call of Duty than ever before, following the release of a new Perk that transports players back to 2015.
It’s safe to say that Call of Duty has evolved a lot over the years. From the relatively basic gameplay we saw back in the day, to the features like omnimovement included today, there have been plenty of attempts to mix things up.
But fans still love that classic feel, and any opportunity to relive it is always a welcome sight. Now, following the arrival of a new Perk, you can make Black Ops 6 feel like it did a decade ago.
Close Shave & Slipstream Perks bring old-school CoD to BO6
The new Black Ops Tribute event introduces the Close Shave Perk, which takes your regular gun-butt melee and replaces it with your dedicated melee, allowing you to kill an enemy up close in a single hit.
This used to be standard in Call of Duty, until it was removed in Black Ops 3 to make way for the many movement options Treyarch added. Since then, if you wanted to run a knife or another melee weapon, you had to swap it for your secondary.
At least, that was the case until Black Ops 6 introduced the dedicated melee feature, which lets you run a primary, secondary, and melee at once. Now, with Close Shave, you can use your dedicated melee with one click of the right stick, whether it’s a knife, Baseball Bat, or even the Skateboard.

By itself, this is just a nice throwback to classic CoD titles, but when paired with Slipstream, it completely transforms the game. This Perk 3 option was released during the Shadow Hunt event in Season 2, and gets rid of the Tactical Sprint feature and buffs your regular sprint speed.

Tactical Sprint is another relatively new addition to the series, arriving in Modern Warfare (2019) before becoming standard in multiplayer and Warzone. It’s been a controversial feature that many fans want removed, and Slipstream does exactly that.
When you equip the two together, you’re left with a combination that recreates a type of CoD gameplay that hasn’t been possible since 2015. Sprinting is fast and easy with no extra inputs to worry about, and you can knife an enemy at close range without having to put away your main weapon completely.
The cherry on the cake is that both are Enforcer Perks too, so if you choose another red one in the Perk 2 slot, you’ll get a health and movement buff after each kill thanks to the Specialty bonus.
So, if you’re a long-time CoD player who wants to relive the glory days, this is the perfect Perk combination for you.
