Black Ops 7 devs plan to bring back enemy health bars after player demand

CoD Health Bar BO7

Treyarch plans to test enemy health bars in Black Ops 7’s multiplayer beta, promising optional visibility and raising debate about whether the HUD should show more detail.

Enemy health bars appeared in previous Call of Duty entries like Black Ops 4, showing exactly how much health an enemy had left. In contrast, more recent titles such as Black Ops Cold War and Black Ops 6 omitted them.

Without it, many players felt in the dark during fights, wondering how close they had come to securing a kill. Now, with Black Ops 7 on the horizon, fans are watching closely for a return of the health bar.

Black Ops 7 devs confirm enemy health bars are being tested

Treyarch’s Design Director, Matt Scronce, confirmed on X that the team had begun testing health bars in multiplayer. He said they hope to include them in the upcoming beta, and crucially, they plan to include a setting for players to disable them.

The health bar offers real-time intel on enemy health status, letting players make sharper tactical choices mid-gunfight: “If you know the enemy is one-shot, you might push,” Scronce pointed out. It is not just cosmetic; it could change how people approach gunfights.

Fans responded with enthusiasm and relief. One shouted, “YOU ARE THE GOAT THANK YOU!” Another wrote, “Love healthbars! Thanks for giving the option to the players!”

A third chimed in, “YESS!! I really hope that means the TTK is a bit slower like CW or BO4.” The reactions showed how important the feature is to players.

With Black Ops 7’s beta fast approaching on October 2, Treyarch’s willingness to test health bars with customizable HUD options has raised anticipation. The game launches on November 14, 2025, and with features like this already being tested, fans have even more reason to count down the days.
