Black Ops 7 Zombies is back with a new chapter that pushes the story forward and sets up the mode’s next phase.
The Xbox Games Showcase shocked everyone by ending with the first trailer for Black Ops 7, giving fans the first look at Call of Duty 2025. Black Ops 6’s Zombies offering was seen as a return to form after the open-world MWZ failed to recapture the same magic, bringing standout maps like Liberty Falls and Citadelle des Morts.
Below you’ll find the confirmed release date, the latest official trailer, who’s involved, and what Treyarch says is coming next to Black Ops 7 Zombies.

BO7 Zombies explained

Activision has confirmed that Black Ops 7 Zombies will be round-based once again, just like Black Ops 6. This means that the mode will take place on an intricately designed map, where players must survive against increasingly difficult waves of enemies.
This is the traditional CoD Zombies format, first introduced in World at War. Although certain games have tried to evolve the formula and make it more open, such as Modern Warfare 3 and Vanguard, it remains the most popular format.
Although we haven’t seen any official gameplay, there are many staple features that are almost guaranteed to return, such as the Mystery Box, Pack-a-Punch machines, and GobbleGums.
In terms of story, it’s set to pick up where BO6 leaves off, as the mode takes place “in the heart of the Dark Aether.”

Leaked maps
According to a leak from ‘TheGhostOfHope,’ Black Ops 7 Zombies will feature remasters of two maps from BO2 — TranZit and Mob of the Dead.
The first of these was the largest Zombies map of all time when it released in 2012, as it was essentially multiple small but interconnected areas you could travel between. These included a Bus Depot, a Diner, and even a Town area.
To move between each location, you had to climb aboard a bus that would transport you quickly to the next stop. It was also among the first maps to include buildables, such as turrets and traps.
Meanwhile, Mob of the Dead was a post-launch map for BO2 that took place on Alcatraz Island. It was divided into five distinct areas, including the Cell Block and the Warden’s Office.
Unlike TranZit, Mob has actually returned once before, as a remake titled Blood of the Dead, which featured new regions to explore, was included in Black Ops 4.
According to the leaker, BO7 will bring a “straight up” remaster of both maps, so don’t expect too many major changes to the look and layout. However, given that these maps are both 13 years old, there might be some new additions to bring them up to modern standards.
There have been plenty of leaks in the last year claiming that CoD 2025 would include remasters of every Black Ops 2 multiplayer map. While this hasn’t been confirmed yet, since the devs revealed “brand-new maps” are on the way, it appears they’re drawing heavily from the 2012 classic when it comes to Zombies.
