Following the backlash to Black Ops 7’s reveal, Treyarch have been responding to the biggest community complaints, namely the game’s identity and its skins, actually redesigning the Vault Edition Operators.
BO7’s trailer was massively disliked, got ratioed by a comment talking about Battlefield 6, and the announcement that BO6’s skins would carry over received a ton of backlash. The main complaint was that skins like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Beavis and Butt-Head look extremely out of place.
The devs announced that carry forward would no longer feature in Black Ops 7, but players weren’t impressed with the Vault Edition skins either. On September 8, they announced they’re making changes.
Treyarch redesign Tedd Operator after complaints
“In the spirit of addressing some recent feedback, we’re making a few visual changes to some of the Vault Edition Operators… starting with our favorite post-apocalyptic bus driver,” tweeted Treyarch.
Here, they gave us a new look at the T.E.D.D. Operator. Originally, TranZit’s bus driver looked clean with his plastic face mainly intact, so players felt it was too far removed from the original. But now, the face is melted off, and it looks more like the Black Ops 2 version.
Players have been impressed with the change. “Looks way better,” said one Reddit user. “Other one wasn’t bad but this feels more like TEDD. His look was too perfect and iconic to ever have a redesign imo.”
“Looks really good, and actually fits the theme of CoD, as opposed to that uncanny AI looking face he had,” said another. “Definitely has a place as a skin, kinda like Klaus did in BO6.”
They’ve also been loving the Zombies Easter eggs included in the skin, such as the Wave Gun from Moon and the Ray Gun built into his arms, and the Thundergun on his back.

Players want the Karma and Harper skins to be redesigned next, and it sounds like they will be. While we don’t know exactly which ones or how they’re changing yet, the devs said changes are coming to “some of the Vault Edition Operators,” so we should see more redesigns soon.
We’ll see more of Black Ops 7 at the Call of Duty Next event on September 30, followed by the beta shortly after.
