Black Ops 7 devs confirm Zombies reveal still happening despite deleting announcement

Treyarch has finally confirmed when Black Ops 7’s Zombies reveal will happen, after weeks of no updates and a podcast edit that muddied expectations.

After Black Ops 7’s official reveal at Gamescom, Call of Duty’s COD Pod podcast told viewers that Zombies would get a dedicated “reveal week” in early September.

The announcement came alongside a showcase of the game’s co-op campaign and a tease of its multiplayer and Zombies elements. At the time, Senior Director of Communications Stephanie Snowden even said, “We had to make a Zombies week out of it basically,” making it sound like a big showcase was right around the corner.

However, that section (timestamp of 9:21) was later edited out of a reuploaded version of the podcast, leaving players unsure if the reveal was still planned.

On September 9, Treyarch cleared things up in a post on X.

The studio said: “Hi. We’ll have plenty to share on Zombies starting next week… and there’s more than we can fit into just a week. Needed some extra time to cook up something special.” This confirms that the reveal hasn’t been scrapped, but rather delayed a bit compared to what was first suggested.

The quiet removal of Zombies references from the COD Pod had players guessing what was going on. On the CODZombies subreddit, some worried the mode wasn’t ready, while others guessed the reveal would instead appear at Call of Duty Next later this month.

Meanwhile, the PlayStation blog continued to tell players to expect details in “early September,” and Call of Duty’s main account tweeted on August 19 that “our official Zombies reveal isn’t for a few weeks,” sending players mixed signals. The lack of consistency fueled concerns that the showcase had been canceled.
