Fan-favorite COD weapons are still “completely broken” despite Black Ops 6 nerfs

Black Ops 6 players defending bomb

A set of fan-favorite weapons in Black Ops 6 are still “completely broken” despite being hit with a sizable nerf in Season 3 Reloaded.

Weapon balancing updates have become a key part of Call of Duty’s multiplayer. With each new season, the developers will tweak the arsenal of weapons on offer, and even add some new ones to the mix. At times, they’ve even got to change weapon power in hotfixes too, especially when they get too out of line.

In Season 3 Reloaded, Treyarch tackled some of Black Ops 6’s most annoying and powerful weapons. SMGs, in particular, were hit with some nerfs that, on the face of things, appeared as if it would shake up the meta.

However, despite those changes, players still believe that the close-quarters weapons are “completely broken” and in need of further tweaking.

SMGs are still broken in Black Ops 6

“SMGs are a completely broken weapon class with nearly zero downsides,” Redditor Bri-ish_idiot said, firing back at claims that SMGs deal “low damage” at times. “First of all, no they don’t, and second of all, that doesn’t matter when the fire rate on SMGs is so fast you can dump your entire 40-round mag into someone before they can even ADS.”

Some quickly agreed. “It’s really boring when most of my lobbies are still full of people with 15-30k kills on the jackal alone, still pretty strong after the nerf although not broken like it was before,” one said.

“We had balanced smgs (mostly) in mw2/3 then they f**ked it all back up to return to the awful status quo in bo6,” another commented.

Other fans quickly chimed in, claiming that SMGs are helped by the map design. “It doesn’t help when 90% of the maps are too short or have too much corners for camping,” one said. “SMGs are broken due to map designs. All maps are cramped AF,” another added.

Treyarch will, no doubt, have another shake-up in store with Season 4. Though just how far they go remains to be seen.
