Although not mentioned in the patch notes, one of Warzone’s most popular and iconic Assault Rifles was given a major nerf in the mid-season update, knocking it out of the meta altogether.
Season 5 Reloaded brought plenty of weapon buffs and nerfs to Warzone, shaking up the meta once again. Not only did it end the ABR A1’s dominance, but it also buffed the Kilo 141 to make it the most effective long-range weapon in the game.
However, it also introduced some balancing changes that weren’t listed in the patch notes, one of which has made the classic Grau 5.56 completely unusable.
Grau 5.56 nerfed out of meta with secret change
Prior to the update, the Grau was one of the most popular guns in Warzone, thanks to its iconic iron sight and low recoil. But after it went live, the stats page CODMunity shared a TTK comparison and found that the SWAT-556 with conversion is now way behind the competition.
The Kilo 141, GPR 91, and FFAR 1 can all kill between 100 and 150 master up to around 45 meters, and even the AMAX and nerfed ABR slightly edge it out. In fact, assuming that you’re hitting your shots, there isn’t a single range where the Grau isn’t the slowest-killing Assault Rifle.
It’s such a significant nerf that CODMunity thinks “the gun really isn’t worth using anymore.”
So, it might finally be time to remove the popular Assault Rifle from your loadouts, at least until it’s nerfed. It isn’t entirely clear what’s been changed, as it could be a range or damage nerf, or why it wasn’t listed in the patch notes, but there’s no doubt that the Grau is way off the pace.

Although we’re talking about milliseconds here, what all this means is that if you continue using the Grau in Season 5 Reloaded, you’re at a disadvantage before a shot is even fired. So, if your opponent is using the Kilo or GPR 91, you’ll need to rely on your accuracy and movement to get the better of them.
We recommend switching to one of the new meta Assault Rifles mentioned above, with one of the best SMGs to partner with it.
