One of Black Ops 6’s newest skin is a reference to a Classic Call of Duty look, but you’ve probably totally missed it.
As Call of Duty has gotten deeper and deeper into the microtransactions and cosmetics side of things over the last few years, fans have been split. Some welcome the new unique looks, while others want more realistic skins and a bigger focus on fixing the game’s ongoing issues.
The developers have already said that the “crazy” skins will continue, especially in Warzone, but they have also started satisighing some of those calls for mili-sim looks too.
Season 3 of Black Ops 6 introduced a host of more realistic skins, including Domino’s return in Warzone, a John Black Ops skin is coming in the Black Ops tribute event, and there is also a throwback reference to Black Ops 4.
Black Ops 4’s Reaper is sort of in Black Ops 6
If you haven’t noticed, the Caine skin that was introduced in the newest season’s battle pass is actually a nod to Reaver in Black Ops 4. While this isn’t a mili-sim look, it is a cool reference to CoD’s past.
Plenty of fans completely missed it at first. “Just realised Caine’s battle pass skin is supposed to look like Reaper from Black Ops 4,” Redditor Nice_Ad6911 said, pointing out the similarities of the eyewear between the two skins.
“Good catch, legit didn’t realize this was a reference to anything but I see it now,” one said. “I didn’t see it at first but now I absolutely see it,” another agreed.
Some fans noted that there is other Black Ops references with Maya’s ‘Rouge Archer’ skin. That is a nod to Black Ops 3’s Sparrow specialist with the bow.

As noted, there is a Black Ops tribute event coming down the pipe, so maybe we’ll get more skins like these in Season 4. You’ll just have to keep an eye out.
