Black Ops 6 players are running into an issue where their loadouts don’t work properly after each Prestige, which resets certain classes and forces them to use an XM4. Luckily, there is a quick and easy fix for the bug.
The return of the classic Prestige system in BO6 has been a welcome change, giving this year’s multiplayer a real sense of progression that rewards your time. This fan-favorite feature resets your level after Rank 55, locking all of your weapons and Perks, in exchange for valuable rewards and badges to show off.
But it’s not without its issues, as a bug has been popping up where Prestiging makes certain loadouts unusable. It can be frustrating, but the solution is fairly simple, so here’s what you need to do.
How to fix loadout reset bug in BO6
All you have to do is delete most of your custom classes to solve the Prestiging loadout glitch. No matter how many you’ve got set up, get rid of them all apart from one, as you always need to have at least one saved.
Crucially, make sure that any loadouts that were bugged are among the ones you delete, leaving a working loadout spare.

Then, simply create them all over again and you’ll find that they’re working as intended. I, along with friends who ran into the issue, tried this fix after many matches of frustration, and can verify that it worked every time.
Unfortunately, just deleting the glitched loadouts doesn’t solve the issue, so you need to get rid of every build bar one. This is a little annoying and it takes time to put the classes back together again, but it’s a fix that’s proven to work.

Prestige loadout bug explained
Once you Prestige and all of your levels are reset, you should still be able to access a minimum of five custom loadouts. These can be freely customized, allowing you to change the attachments and equip guns you’ve unlocked permanently, either from the Battle Pass or using a Permanent Unlock Token.
However, this glitch appears to reset certain loadouts to a base XM4 when you select it in a match, although it still displays your original build. It often affects multiple loadouts at once, and no matter how much you change and tweak it, when you select it in-game, your character will pull out an Assault Rifle with no attachments.
The cause isn’t clear, but it appears to be confusion on the game’s part between your level and loadouts. Since you’ve Prestiged, you’re dropped back to level 1, but you should still have custom loadouts as they’re permanently unlocked at level 4 on your first run through the ranks.
However, this glitch appears to strip away certain weapon and attachments as if you’re an actual level 1 who’s never played a match.
