A big leak has revealed a ton of details about Modern Warfare 4 (Call of Duty 2026), and it looks set to backtrack on some of the biggest changes introduced in Black Ops 6 and the upcoming Black Ops 7.
All attention is starting to turn towards Black Ops 7, releasing on November 14, after we got our first real look at Gamescom. But beyond that, we’ve got Infinity Ward’s next game coming in 2026, which is reportedly titled Modern Warfare 4 and has a campaign that heavily focuses on North and South Korea.
Now, a fresh series of leaks has revealed some more information about the game’s multiplayer, and it appears to be undoing some of the most important changes we’ve seen in recent years.
MW4 will reportedly bring back Tac Sprint & scrap Omnimovement
According to trusted leaker ‘realityuk,’ Modern Warfare 4 is set to bring back Tactical Sprint. The controversial feature, which lets you run faster at the cost of slower ADS speeds, is being removed as the default in Black Ops 7, and will instead be available through a Perk.
Although it’s appeared in every game since MW (2019), the series has gradually been moving away from Tac Sprint, with even BO6 releasing the Slipstream Perk to get rid of it. But it appears that Infinity Ward are still committed to it.
The other major change is that omnimovement reportedly won’t appear. This movement overhaul, which lets players sprint and dive in a direction while looking ahead, featured heavily in Black Ops 6’s marketing and was expected to become a staple of the series going forward.

However, MW4 will seemingly go back to the more traditional movement seen in MW3 and MW2, with fellow leaker ‘COD Warfare‘ claiming to have heard that Infinity Ward are “not fans” of the system.
‘realityuk’ also mentioned that CoD 2026 will abandon the Dedicated Melee slot from Black Ops 6, remove the ability to ADS while sliding, and, crucially, reintroduce the severe visual recoil that was pretty divisive back in Modern Warfare 2.
Of course, it’s worth keeping in mind that this is all based on leaks at the moment, and we won’t get any official details until 2026. It’s also unclear how current this information is, as it could be from earlier on in development, and plans may have changed.
In the meantime, we have plenty of Black Ops 7 content to look forward to, with CoD Next taking place on September 30 and the beta following shortly after.
