Destiny 2 Hunter Exotic’s hidden Lord of Wolves interaction makes it the ultimate boss killer

Huge buffs to Lord of Wolves in Destiny 2 Episode Heresy saw the Exotic Shotgun rocket to the top of the PvE meta due to its absurd DPS, but for Hunters, an unexpected interaction makes it even better.
In addition to increasing the Fallen-themed weapon’s range and base damage, Bungie also massively improved the Release the Wolves intrinsic perk, granting Lord of Wolves full-auto fire, a boosted rate of fire, and even more damage when fired from the hip.
Clips of full Fireteams – Shotgun in-hand – melting Vault of Glass’ Templar boss in literal seconds immediately started doing the rounds after Heresy went live on February 4. Now, Hunters can go one step further by pairing the previously overlooked boomstick with a specific Exotic Helmet that, at first glance, should provide no synergy whatsoever.
Mask of Bakris & Solar Surge
For those not familiar with Mask of Bakris, its Exotic Perk, Light Shift, reads as follows:
“While you have a Stasis Super equipped, your dodge becomes a longer range, faster moving shift that partially cloaks you during use. After shifting, your Stasis and Arc weapons deal increased damage for a short time.”
Despite not mentioning Solar whatsoever, the buff for Stasis and Arc weapons, delivered in the form of a x4 elemental surge that grants 25% additional damage for 10 seconds, currently also applies specifically to Lord of Wolves but no other sources of Solar damage.

As of writing, it’s not immediately clear if the interaction in question between Mask of Bakris and Lord of Wolves is intentional and just not reflected in the former’s description, or if a bug is the culprit. Upon testing, however, we can confirm that as of patch 8.2.0.2 on February 25, the combo still works.
