Destiny 2‘s annual summer-themed Solstice event returns in The Edge of Fate, bringing with it new weapons to chase in standard and Holofoil forms.
Like Arms week, Guardians will be able to spend an event-exclusive currency to purchase random rolls of this year’s exclusive weapons as well as earn and upgrade a returning armor set from previous years.
For everything you need to know about the event, including which rolls of newcomers Yeartide Apex and Festival Flight you’ll want to chase, see below.
When does Solstice 2025 start?
Destiny 2’s 2025 Solstice celebration begins with weekly reset on August 5.
As standard, the limited-time event runs for two weeks, ending with weekly reset on August 19.

Solstice 2025 introduces two new weapons to the sandbox: Festival Flight and Yeartide Apex, an Area Denial grenade launcher and Lightweight SMG, respectively.
Both come packing some irresistible perk pools that deserve some analysis, but first, check out the full list for both in the table below.

Meta Analysis
For both PvE and PvP, Yeartide Apex is an excellent gun bursting with potential. For the former, Heal Clip and Incandescent are a match made in heaven for Solar builds, while Lone Wolf and Target Lock should prove to be a potent and sought-after combo for Crucible.
Similar to VS Velocity Baton and Lost Signal, Festival Flight has the potential to be an Orb-generating machine for Strand builds. Even though Attrition Orbs is no longer as potent as before following nerfs, paired with Envious Arsenal, it should still prove to be a solid add-clear and Super-generating special weapon.
Armor
Two sets of armor are available during Solstice 2025. One of these, sporting a summary vacation theme, will be available through Destiny 2’s Eververse store (pictured left) as armor ornaments.

The second (pictured right) will be earnable in-game as actual armor and require Guardians to complete various tasks and objectives to unlock a visual glow on each piece.

How to unlock Lustrous Solstice armor
The process for unlocking Solstice gear for your chosen class for this year’s version of the event is straightforward.
Unlike previous years, where each armor piece required completion of various objectives to upgrade its rarity and unlock its glow, Bungie has streamlined the process considerably.
To get started, visit Eva Levante at the Tower. She’ll ask you to gather Solstice Alloy, obtained from completing any Portal activity, to unlock each armor piece. At 100 each, you’ll need a total of 500 Solstice Alloy to unlock the base armor, and then an additional 250 to unlock the glowing version, for a total of 750.
The amount of Alloy you receive per activity depends on length and difficulty of each activity. However, the entire process should take you no longer than a few hours, regardless of how you chose to farm.
That about wraps up everything you need to know about Destiny 2’s 2025 Solstice event, but if you’re looking to stay up to date on what weapons are currently dominating the sandbox, check out our PvE and PvP tier lists, updated for Edge of Fate.
