A Destiny 2 Exotic that once dominated the PvE meta before getting nerfed received some much-needed buffs in Episode Heresy, and now it’s gaining momentum once again.
During Into The Light, Quicksilver Storm was given two nerfs. One of these saw Rocket Tracers take 50% more shots to trigger, and the other reduced AOE damage by 37.5%. Neither of these was ideal, but it was the former that really hurt the gun, with it quickly going from a top-tier Exotic to something nobody was using anymore.
It took some time, but Bungie has finally given these nerfs a look over in Heresy Act 1. The latest set of buffs and nerfs on February 4 reduced the shots required to trigger Rocket Tracers by 17%, bringing the initial nerf down to just 33%.
While this may not sound like much, it means Quicksilver Storm can once again fire off three rockets in a single magazine. This simple change makes it possible to fully charge Grenade Chaser without having to reload, returning a lot of the power it lost with the initial nerfs.

Quicksilver Storm is meta again
This hasn’t gone unnoticed by the community, with the Exotic Auto Rifle’s popularity skyrocketing. Quicksilver Storm currently ranks as the 10th most used Exotic weapon in PvE, as tracked by DestinyTracker using Bungie’s API.
This places it ahead of several other meta options like Khvostov 7G-0X, Outbreak Perfected, and Trinity Ghoul. Prior to Episode Heresy, the Strand weapon wasn’t even ranking in the top 20, so this is a drastic turnaround.

What’s particularly impressive is that this season’s offering don’t even have synergy with Quicksilver Storm. The seasonal artifact offers very little for Strand and Auto Rifles don’t feature at all, yet the buffs alone have still been enough to get Guardians back on board.
This is by no means the only forgotten Exotic that has been in the spotlight this season, with Lord of Wolves dominating bosses and The Queenbreaker topping the DPS meta after being neglected for so long.
