EA FC 25 players can bolster their Ultimate Team squads with free FC Points, and win other rewards, if they have what it takes to compete in PlayStation Tournaments.

Building your dream squad in EA FC 25 requires a lot of skill, but there’s no denying that it also takes an element of luck. While constantly ranking highly in Division Rivals and UT Champions will guarantee you packs, once you open them, all you can do is keep your fingers crossed and hope for a meta player.

So, if you want to have the best chance of success, it’s vital to open as many packs as possible. The easiest way to do this is with FC Points, but since they usually cost real-life money, any opportunity to earn them free of charge is an absolute must.

Those brave enough to test their mettle online against other players can do exactly that through PlayStation Tournaments, so here’s how to sign up, the rewards up for grabs, and even some tips to help on your way.

Modes and format

There are many different types of PlayStation Tournaments in EA FC 25, with many more being added all the time. Each has its own format with varying numbers of players.

The most common are the Kick-Off Cup and UT Cup. The former asks you to pick a real-world club, such as Barcelona or Liverpool, and go head-to-head with other players, while the latter puts you in control of your own Ultimate Team.

Unless specified, the competitions are played out in single matches, with the winner going through to the next round while the loser is eliminated. A draw will go to extra time and penalties to decide the victor, and a disconnect or failure to join the match on time is an instant loss.

This continues until there is just one player left standing to claim the final prize.

Rewards

There is a range of rewards up for grabs, including free FC Points, but the number offered out varies depending on the tournament and the number of entrants. For example, an Ultimate Team Cup with 32 players may give 1,050 ($9.99) to the winner and 100 ($0.99) to the runner-up, while a 16-player cup may have a grand prize of 500 FC Points ($4.99).

It’s not just FC Points, though. Some tournaments give out exclusive PlayStation Avatars that can be equipped to your PSN profile, with a new design coming every month.

The rewards will be listed on each tournament’s card, so make sure to check before signing up.

Best teams and formations

If you’re playing a Kick-Off tournament, there are a handful of teams that are head and shoulders above the rest if you want to give yourself the best possible chance.

Real Madrid are comfortably the strongest club team in EA FC 25, with Mbappe, Vinicus Jr, and Bellingham making up a deadly attacking force. They also have a solid defense, as Rudiger is a brick wall and Courtois can feel unbeatable thanks to his impressive height and positioning.

Despite their struggles in real life, Manchester City is also a great pick. Haaland is the talismanic striker who’s sure to grab the goals, while Savinho and Foden have the pace and technical skill to create opportunities from wide areas.

When it comes to Ultimate Team, you have many more options to consider. You’re probably going to be up against high-skill players with expensive teams, so it’s crucial that your squad is in line with the current meta.

We recommend a LaLiga or Premier League team, as this is where the lion’s share of the game’s best players can be found. But you’ll also want to make sure that you have a couple of special Icons like Ronaldo, Gullit, or Ribery, both for Chemistry and to give you that extra bit of quality.

In terms of formations, you can’t go wrong with a 4-2-3-1 (wide), as this provides the best balance in all areas of the pitch. The two sitting midfield players can protect the backline while also feeding the ball to the attackers, while the two wingers can provide the pace to help you get in behind. If you prefer a strike partnership, 4-4-2 is also very strong as long as you can live without a number 10 pulling the strings.

Of course, it’s best to stick with a system and players that you feel comfortable using. For a full breakdown of the strongest options, make sure to check out our guide of the best formations and tactics.
