Bandai Namco, the names behind Elden Ring have announced a brand new mode for Elden Ring Nightreign, promising to bring a “high-difficulty challenge mode designed for seasoned players,” proving an even tougher challenge is on the way soon.
Elden Ring Nightreign acts as the thrilling and extremely popular spin-off to Elden Ring. It was released back in May 2025 and, since then, has introduced plenty of co-op gameplay as well as weekly boss fights to challenge veteran players.
However, after being leaked through a deep dive into the game files, fans began spotting a brand new mode, Deep of Night. According to the leak, you would descend to different depths and keep fighting until you fell, with victory improving your rating and letting you descend further. Well, now it’s finally been announced, with exactly what to expect, and most importantly, when it comes out.
New Deep of Night mode to release in September 2025
As shared by Bandai Namco in a press release, Elden Ring Nightreign Deep of Night is a “high difficulty expedition mode” that serves to provide a challenge to veterans and will release on September 11.

“In ‘Deep of Night’, the enemies that appear are stronger than usual,” explains the blog, which goes on to reveal that “you cannot specify the target Nightlord, and ongoing terrain changes are not reflected. Special items such as ‘Depths Relics’ exclusive to ‘Deep of Night’, and weapons with multiple additional, but also detrimental effects will appear. Furthermore, the difficulty increases the deeper you descend. The ratings will fluctuate based on wins and losses, affecting the depth.”
So, as predicted, the challenge will increase the more you descend, and the ratings will all depend on your skill. On top of this, it’s revealed that we’ll be getting exclusive items and weapons as part of the mode.

What’s more, currently, the developers are challenging players to “try and see if you can surpass Depth 3.” If you do, they’ve explained that “Depths 4 to 5 will feature an endless battle for those seeking even greater thrills.”
As such, players will be getting the endless battle mode they’ve been calling for, along with plenty of new challenges and fights. Best to brush up on your skills before September 11.
