A 70-year-old Arizona woman battling breast cancer had her wish granted when she was given floor tickets to see Nine Inch Nails perform live.
Nine Inch Nails, the industrial rock band founded by Trent Reznor in 1988, are known for their dark, heavy sound that blends electronic music with rock and metal. The group has earned critical acclaim for albums like The Downward Spiral and With Teeth, and has long been considered one of the most influential acts in alternative music.
The band’s ongoing “Peel It Back Tour” marked their first North American run in three years, drawing fans across the country eager to hear hits like Closer and Hurt performed in person.
The Wish of a Lifetime for Carla
Carla Well-Knight, a Mesa resident living with advanced breast cancer, has become known around her senior community for helping neighbors by donating walkers and wheelchairs from her own home. That generosity caught the attention of her caretaker, who put her forward for AARP’s Wish of a Lifetime program.
“The more you give, the more you get back, always,” she said when reflecting on her outlook to ABC Arizona.
The nomination proved a perfect match with Carla’s biggest passion, heavy metal music. A fan of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Linkin Park, she has long considered Nine Inch Nails her favorite band, even marking the fandom with a tattoo of their “NIN” logo on her arm.
Through the program, Carla secured floor seats for Nine Inch Nails’ September 16 concert in Phoenix, part of the group’s Peel It Back Tour. From the Footprint Center floor, she was able to watch Trent Reznor and company perform just a few feet away, a bucket-list experience delivered at just the right time.
