A burglar in scuba gear stole between $10,000 and $20,000 from Paddlefish, a Disney Springs restaurant shaped like a steamboat, early Monday morning.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said an “unknown man entered the business after hours, took some cash, and left” just after midnight on September 15. No employees were injured.
WFTV 9 reported that the man swam up to Paddlefish, stashed his wetsuit and scuba gear, and entered the manager’s office, where two employees were counting money from the day. He ordered them to close their eyes in a corner of the room, and sources told the outlet he tied them up before taking the cash.
Employees freed themselves and called 911
The burglar left within two minutes, and investigators believe he jumped back into the Disney Springs lake in scuba gear. Deputies did not find him after an immediate search.
A photo released by the sheriff’s office showed the man spray painting a security camera. Employees described him as slim, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, wearing tight clothing and a blue beanie.
Back in June, a resident was arrested after he broke into a restaurant and unplugged the soda machine in order to attempt to charge his Tesla.
