Grandmother figures in China are reportedly going viral for believing AI-generated images of babies cooking are real, prompting the term, “AI grandsons.”
AI has taken over the media, with some internet users unable to distinguish the real from the fake. In one of the latest AI trends, AI-generated babies can be seen cooking, eating with chopsticks, and cleaning in the kitchen. Social media users have since taken these posts to their grandmothers to see what their reactions were.
The trend has taken off in China, with many Chinese grandmas becoming captivated by the AI babies. The images of the children are now being regarded as social media’s “AI grandsons.”
When several grandmas were shown photos and videos of the AI grandsons in the kitchen slurping up noodles, they were tickled by the babies’ skills and cuteness.
“Wow, look how well he eats! He’s so young and already knows how to use chopsticks. What a delightful little person,” one grandma said.
“Be careful, darling! I’m worried about your little eyes getting poked by the chickens,” another grandma said.
Grandmas supported by the internet for believing AI grandsons were real
Those who have been fooled into thinking the AI grandsons were real have been given support from social media users after their reactions went viral. Many internet users said the grandmas should be given grace, as their generation might not be privy to AI and what the growing advancement can do.
“Instead of repeatedly telling these grandmas that it is fake, as long as they’re not spending money, just let them enjoy it however they wish,” said one.
