Controversial streamer Johnny Somali has claimed that he plans to leave South Korea via international waters as he is still facing a lengthy prison sentence.

At the end of 2024, Johnny Somali – real name Ramsey Khalid Ismael – landed himself in hot water with South Korean officials after a number of nuisance streams. The streamer was charged with obstruction of business after allegedly causing havoc inside a 7-Eleven store and also delaying a bus with loud music.

Those charges, which he has pleaded guilty to, have prevented him from being able to leave Korea. He is facing trial for them, and also looking at significant time behind bars as new charges have been thrown his way.

Ismael has continued to stream in Korea, confronting police and locals on a regular basis. He has, however, threatened to leave the country via international waters.

Johnny Somali wants to try international waters to leave Korea

Somali tossed the idea out there during his April 24 stream, suggesting he’d travel to the coast of Korea and set sail for international waters before he could be locked up.

“I’m going to Incheon, I’m renting a boat or an inflatable raft, and I’m going to stream sailing to international waters,” he said. “As soon as I hit international waters, they can’t catch me.”

Legal Mindset, however, disputed that. “He wouldn’t even make it close to international waters because of the outlying islands. He would go so far, and the closest he could get to international waters would be trying to go to North Korea. They will shoot down and destroy any boat.”

The streamer was also confronted by Korean police as he returned to an apartment. Two officers joined Somali inside an elevator before he questioned what they wanted from him.

“Why are you following me? Why? What do you want? What do you want?! What?! Go away from me!” he said after telling them he was heading home. “I go my house, don’t look. Look that way! Okay, look that way! Don’t look!”

As noted, the streamer is still looking at serious jail time in Korea and charges have continued to be put against him.
