Fortnite leakers have reasons to suspect the Psycho Bandit skin from Borderlands is coming back to the game.
Epic has made some changes to the chaos-loving maniac who hasn’t graced the Item Shop in almost two thousand days. Fans have waited years for this moment – and it finally happened in Fortnite’s v34.40 update.
Well-known Fortnite dataminers, like Shiina, Hypex, and iFireMonkey, noticed that Epic Games updated the Psycho Bandit Bundle on April 22.
Psycho Bandit might be back after nearly five years in the vault
The Psycho skin hasn’t been in the Item Shop since May 31, 2020. That’s over 1,700 days.
It originally dropped in 2019 through a Borderlands 3 promotion for 2,000 V-Bucks. It came bundled with the Psycho Buzz Axes and Claptrap back bling. And then, just like that, he was gone. Someone must’ve shot him in the face.

But the skin didn’t vanish from memory. It turned into a collector’s flex. One listing on Eneba has it priced at €1,379.99. That’s a mortgage payment in some zip codes.
Its status as part of Fortnite’s Gaming Legends Series made it even more desirable – and impossible to get.
It’s not hard to see why Epic Games would want to drop this ultra-rare skin back in the Item Shop: Borderlands 4 is coming in 2025. Epic and Gearbox have synced up their hype cycles in the past, and this could be another one of their collabs.
This comeback is also Epic’s way of testing the waters. If players flood the shop for this, it opens the door for other long-lost collab skins. Maybe even the return of more vaulted Gaming Legends favorites, like Kratos.

The Fortnite community is split. Some players are hyped to finally get the OG skin, while others aren’t thrilled it’s no longer rare. “Imagine spending 1k for this skin,” one said.
Another added, “I hope we see this – I almost bought it years ago for $40… now they want $1,000.” Someone else: “Bought him for $270.”
As Fortnite charges ahead, its roadmap looks stacked. A Star Wars event is already looming. But for now, the vault just cracked open – and the Psycho is set to be back in business.
