Fortnite players believe one “annoying” weapon added in Chapter 6 Season 2 needs a nerf, though many have different opinions on the changes Epic Games should make.
Epic added several new weapons to Fortnite at the start of Chapter 6’s second season, yet none have proven more divisive than the Kneecapper.
The electrified baseball bat can be found at random in chests and floor loot, and it’s known for its ability to instantly turn the tide of battle when in use.
But the devastation the melee weapon causes in close-quarters skirmishes is precisely the problem. It’s often the weapon of choice in the battle royale’s final circle, so many players have grown tired of losing a shot at victory because of their opponent’s aggressive bat swings.
Fortnite players call for nerfs to Kneecapper
Though Fortnite’s 34.10 update introduced a handful of weapons that players hoped would counteract the Kneecapper, the arguably overpowered baseball bat remains as formidable as ever.
With that in mind, community members have started calling for nerfs to bring an end to the Kneecapper meta. One Reddit user suggested a cooldown as a potential solution, which would slow down the bat’s devastating charged swing attack.
The player wrote, “8 seconds on the charged swing is all I ask, I’m on my hands and knees beggin’ here.”

A slew of other Fortnite players agreed, with one noting that a cooldown “would make it not as annoying.” That same user recalled the Kinetic Blade having a cooldown on its knockback slash, so it only makes sense for Kneecapper to get the same treatment.
Others said that instead of a cooldown, bat wielders should have their movement slowed down during the charge-up.

A similar comment argues weapons like the bat and sword should diminish the player’s stamina, that way, “If you miss too many hits… you get too tired to keep swinging and need to switch to a gun.”
While the community is uncertain about how exactly Fortnite developers should tweak the Kneecapper, the consensus appears to be that a change is indeed needed. As this meta continues to grow, the Black Market has also given rise to the first-ever generation of campers armed to the teeth.
