Fortnite’s “pay-to-lose” skin bug makes sniping impossible

Fortnite players advise against using certain skins because of a “pay-to-lose” bug that makes sniping impossible.

Many Fortnite outfits have been called “pay to lose” by the community. For example, the horns on one Loki skin can block the player’s vision when aiming. And, when enabled, the reactivity animation on Slurp skins will reveal how much shield a user has left.

With the return of sniper rifles in Chapter 6 Season 2, yet another pay-to-lose issue has reared its head to the chagrin of community members.

Some older and newer skins will inhibit the use of sniper rifles in combat, thus leaving players at a disadvantage under certain circumstances.

A Fortnite player has advised fellow fans against wielding sniper rifles when wearing the Ghost Rider skin.

As shown in a Reddit clip shared by the user in question, the flames on Ghost Rider’s head completely obscure the rifle scope when aiming. Instead of a clear view of the target, looking through the scope puts a blurry orange sheen on the screen.

Users in the comments were quick to label the error as a “pay-to-lose” bug. And, apparently, Ghost Rider is not the only skin snipers should avoid.

According to players, another Marvel-branded outfit similarly blocks the screen during sniper gameplay. One person explained, “Yep, my spider punk is pay to lose when I try to use this gun.”

War Machine suffers from the same issue with another gun. “The war machine [skin] has this problem with the scoped smg since his shoulder turret comes down to block the scope,” a Redditor noted in the thread.

Elsewhere, another Fortnite player reported their issues with the Indiana Jones skin, since the character’s hand floats in front of the sniper scope.

Epic Games hasn’t addressed the bug as of writing, so it’s not known if players should expect a fix anytime soon.
