For Fortnite players struggling to complete the “Baron is hoarding gold” part of the new Story quest, here’s how to get around the bug.
Epic Games deployed the first set of Story quests for Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 on February 25, 2025. One questline labeled ‘Found Quests’ only requires two steps, but a bug has prevented players from progressing.
After interacting with the necessary NPC, some users have discovered an error wherein the character won’t move, thus cutting off access to the quest’s second objective.
Here are a couple of solutions players can try in order to proceed.
How to complete ‘Baron is hoarding gold’ objective in Fortnite

To start the quest, players should head to the eastern part of the map and land at the Outlaw Oasis POI, which doubles as the Baron character’s estate.
Find the Valentina NPC next to the building’s swimming pool, then speak with her about the Baron’s personal safe. After running through every dialogue option, Valentina should enter the building and head towards a bookshelf that hides the safe behind it.
She’ll start safe-cracking on her phone, leaving the player to fend off six guard NPCs that spawn in. Once all enemy NPCs are taken care of, Valentina will open the case and players will have completed both steps of Found Quests.’

How to get around bugged Valentina objective
Some players—myself included—have encountered the problem that Valentina doesn’t always enter the building after the conversation ends.
I was able to progress after joining a second match and following the same steps. However, other users have reported trying to do the quest multiple times to no avail.

Outside of these odd workarounds, players can only hope Epic Games will issue a fix sooner rather than later.
