When is the next Fortnite update?

Fortnite’s Chapter 6 Season 4 has brought a plethora of bug-themed content to the game, and here’s when the next update will arrive.

Thanks to the most recent live event, the previous Superhero-themed season came to an epic conclusion, and now, a fresh new beginning is upon us. Season 4 has been in full swing since launch, bringing new weapons, locations, and bosses, among many other additions.

This time around, players will have to deal with a bug-infested island as well as new enemies. While it’s only the beginning, as usual, players can expect Epic to add new content and switch things up through updates as the season progresses.

Next Fortnite update

The next update is set to drop on October 3, 2025.

Epic has yet to reveal details about what’s coming in the next update just yet, but looking at last year’s Halloween event, it’s likely that the upcoming v37.40 will bring the long-anticipated Fortnitemares event to the game.

And if leaks are accurate, this year’s Fortnitemares is already looking pretty stacked with a bunch of new horror-themed collabs.

One huge collab that’s already been leaked is Scooby Doo. According to well-known leaker SamLeakss, this crossover will be adding Shaggy from the animated series, with either multiple styles or skins.

As usual, skins aren’t the only thing on the table, though. Leaks also point to new gameplay feature. Gameplay-wise, Ghostface is set to get a Knife Mythic, while Jason Voorhees will be getting a medallion. It’s unclear exactly what kind of bonus effect this medallion will give you when equipped, but it’s speculated to be something stealth-based.

When is the next Fortnite live event?

Meanwhile, Ghostface’s Mythic will reportedly let you “stalk” and “jumpscare” your enemies. It will also have two different attacks, but there’s a twist. On some occasions, this medallion can slow you down to leave you at a disadvantage.

Seeing that the companions got delayed in the current update, there’s also a chance they could be added next. For a while now, leakers have claimed that this feature has been in the works, but you’ll want to take this info with a grain of salt for now, given that there’s no confirmation from Epic.

Companions are a feature first revealed by dataminers in the previous chapter, and leakers claimed that these pets can follow you around the map. Not only that, but they also come with different interactions, allowing you to feed, pet, and play minigames with them.

Shortly after Chapter 6, Season 4 launched, well-known leaker Loolo shared an animation of a character petting an animal. With how long this has been in the works, it’s possible that Epic will finally drop the feature in the next patch.

We now also have an idea of what kind of pets will be coming based on the leaked information:

It seems that, as of now, companions are close to releasing, given that dataminers have noticed devs have added shop asset backgrounds for them, among other things. ShiinaBR has also posted a new fox-like companion, adding to the list of the ones revealed earlier.

  • Looper’s Best Friend

Aside from all these, as with any major update, gameplay-wise, players can expect to see map changes and new and unvaulted weapons getting added to the loot pool.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 update schedule

Much like the previous season, Chapter 6 Season 4 will be structured in several major updates. We’ve compiled all the update schedule dates to help you keep tabs on when to expect new content to arrive:

  • August 7 – 37.00 (Chapter 6 Season 4)
  • August 26 – 37.10
  • September 10 – 37.20
  • September 18 – 37.30
  • October 3 – 37.40 (Halloween)
  • October 14 – 37.50
  • November 1 – 37.51 (The Simpsons)

It’s worth noting, however, that this information was taken from leaks, so take it with a grain of salt until there’s further confirmation from Epic.

Chapter 6, Season 4: Shock ‘N Awesome will end on November 1, 2025.

Epic usually keeps things under wraps until the final two weeks of a season, when official teasers for the upcoming season gradually get revealed. For now, though, rest assured you have time until then to complete all missions and unlock rewards from the Battle Pass until then.
