The accessory manufacturer who leaked the Switch 2 console and its peripherals has responded to its ongoing lawsuit with Nintendo.
On May 2, 2025, Nintendo announced that it would be taking legal action against Genki after they leaked unofficial “mockups and renderings” of the Nintendo Switch 2. The third-party accessory manufacturer originally showed products during CES 2025, giving players an early glimpse at how the upcoming system would look ahead of its June 5 release.
However, as per the lawsuit, Nintendo says that Genki was not authorized to access pre-release models and stated that it was “unlikely” they ever had access to the console.
The Japanese video game company also insists Genki had “misrepresented” and confused Nintendo’s fans into thinking they could provide compatible accessories.
Genki responds to Nintendo lawsuit
Genki responded on May 5: “You may have seen that Nintendo recently filed a lawsuit against us. We’re taking it seriously and working with legal counsel to respond thoughtfully,” they said on X.
“What we can say is this: Genki has always been an independent company focused on building innovative gaming accessories for the community we love. We’re proud of the work we’ve done, and we stand by the quality and originality of our products.”
Despite the ongoing lawsuit, Genki has revealed that they will be showing off their newest products at PAX East, which kicks off on May 8. They also thanked fans for the support and have vowed to continue making third-party gaming products.
“We’re grateful for the overwhelming support we’ve received so far. We’ll share more when we can, but for now, we’re staying focused on doing what we do best: building gear for gamers.”
