Borderlands 4’s Amon build focuses on fire, frost, and shock damage scaling through Ordnance, making him one of the strongest frontline Vault Hunters when optimized.
There are four different characters to choose from in Borderlands 4, each representing a different fighting style. And though the best weapons play a big role in everyone’s performance, Amon is a great character to pick.
So, if you’ve sifted through Vex, Rafa, and the powerful Harlowe and settled on this beast of a fighter, you’re in the right place, as we have the best build right here, just for you (and anyone else reading, but don’t think about that).
Best Amon build
The best Amon build in Borderlands 4 turns him into a frontline powerhouse by stacking Ordnance and gun damage together.
Thanks to Full Spectrum Arsenal, every boost to gun damage also feeds into Ordnance damage at 1.5x value, letting Amon scale harder than almost any other Vault Hunter. Add in frost axes, shock procs, and cryo bonuses, and you get a tanky brawler who can melt mobs and bosses alike.
- Best skills: Scorched Kairos, Bullet Hail, Berserk, Endless Bombardment, Blackout, Battleborn, Bullet Storm, There Is Only Red, Impetus, Heavy Plate, Gut Punch
Best Action Skill: Crucible or Scourge with Cryonic Therm
Capstone: Conflangarang
Weapon type: Ordnance (Bottled Lightning recommended)

Best skills to choose
Action Skill: Crucible
Amon’s skill trees thrive on mixing Ordnance with elemental scaling. Full Spectrum Arsenal is a must, since it turns every gun damage node into bonus Ordnance power.
To find the skill you want, type it into the filter under skill to uncover whether it’s a good one to invest in and how many points you should put into it.
Skill | Description | Point to Invest |
---|---|---|
What Burns Within | Boosts ordnance damage and magazine size | 5 |
Tail of the Comet | Ordnance hits apply Cryo DoTs (stacking, fuels ammo return) | 5 |
Bullet Hail | Gunshots ricochet elemental shards, works with Ordnance | 5 |

Best Capstone
The best Capstone for Amon is easily Conflangarang. With this, your Double-Edge will deal Incendiary Melee Damage in both directions, leaving fire and dealing Incendiary Damage over time.

Given you’re primarily a fire-based character, dealing this level of damage, working off melee while still being a ways away, and having damage over time is extremely powerful.
Grab this as soon as you can, and make the most of it. Whether you’re fighting a boss or a group of Bandits, it’ll decimate them.
Weapon type
Unlike other Vault Hunters, Amon doesn’t rely heavily on traditional guns; his build revolves around Ordnance. The standout option is Bottled Lightning, which ticks incredibly fast and works for both mobbing and bossing. Look for one with three in the mag so you get four shots total.
Other strong picks include:
- Utka with explosive rounds: Cryo damage and radius boosts.
- Dead Spread (radiation): Reliable AoE option.
- The Streamer: Strong general-purpose Ordnance.
- Any multi-projectile Torg rocket launcher: Great synergy with the build’s splash and status effect bonuses.
You can choose pretty much any weapon you’re comfortable with here, but it’s recommended you stay away from long-range guns, like Snipers. Nothing good ever came out of a tank using a sniper.

How to play Amon
Amon is a tank through and through. He thrives up close and personal to the enemies and doesn’t shy away from damage thanks to his ever-increasing shield.
Here’s my favorite rotation for Amon:
- Stack gun damage and Ordnance damage nodes. Every buff is worth 1.5x for Ordnance.
- Use Crucible for quality of life. Throwing axes instantly resets Ordnance cooldown if you ever run out.
- For bossing, swap to Scourge with Cryonic Therm to stack survivability and cryo DPS.
- Manage DoTs: cryo and shock procs from Comet, Blackout, and Berserk stack endlessly, ramping damage higher.
- Prioritize Bottled Lightning with three-round mags. Other Ordnance works, but this is the most consistent.
- Equip the Cyborg class mod with points in Primal Surge, Ballistic Bulwark, or Endless Bombardment.
- Run the Super Soldier shield for ammo regen, overshield uptime, and movement speed, which is crucial since Ordnance slows you down.
