Clash Royale’s Arena 5, also known as the Builder’s Workshop, lets you unlock several new cards that are really useful when you complete it – so knowing which decks are best to progress through the level easily is vital.
While the early levels are relatively easy to push through even with a limited set of cards, things will get trickier as you progress to the higher stages. Each Arena level is worth grinding for, and at the Builder’s Workshop level, you’ll finally have guaranteed access to Zap, one of the best and most versatile cards that can be used in many decks.
So if you’ve been stuck for a while now in Arena 5, you’ll want to use the best decks to get through it much easier.
Best Arena 5 decks

Creating a deck from the limited number of 32 character cards can be quite a challenge. Below, you’ll find three deck builds, each of which has its own strengths to suit slightly different playstyles.
Mortar-Valkyrie-Minions
Deck composition
- Mortar
- Minions
- Valkyrie
- Musketeer
- Spear Goblins
- Fireball
- Arrows
- Electro Spirit
There are a lot of reasons why Mortar decks are one of the most reliable ones out there. It’s simple, low-level friendly, and gives you a solid defense that’s hard to break. The idea with this deck is to defend first with low Elixir cards and then to counterpush by dropping Mortar at the bridge and using Valkyrie and Minions to protect it.
If the enemy tries to destroy the Mortar, you have Fireball to take care of the bigger troops like Musketeer, Wizard, or Witch. Meanwhile, should they attempt to swarm you, know that Zap is extremely handy and incredibly cheap to clear the troops, only costing you 2 Elixir.
This deck has an average of 3.0 Elixir, so you can cycle through the Mortar fast enough if needed. Play your cards right, and you can even out-cycle your enemies. The only important thing to keep in mind is placement and timing, mainly because this deck relies on good positioning and opportunity of using the Mortar.

Gob-Hog Cycle deck
Deck composition
- Fire Spirit
- Goblins
- Zap
- Archers
- Knight
- Canon
- Wizard
- Hog Rider
Featuring a low average elixir cost of 2.9, this deck allows you to cycle through your cards rapidly and overwhelm the opponent. With a constant threat on the enemy’s towers with the Hog Rider, this deck provides you quite a few low-elixir defensive options with the Knight, Goblins, Archers, Zap, and Fire Spirit.
On top of this, you can also counter enemy building-target cards such as Giant, Hog Rider, and Battle Ram with the Canon. Additionally, the Wizard provides quite a bit of damage and a sure counter against low-hp hordes of enemies. Owing to these factors, this deck provides you with quite a bit of flexibility at a very low average elixir cost. We recommend that you make the most of the elixir boost period to cycle through your deck and launch as many Hog Riders against the enemy’s towers as you can.
What makes this deck great is that it’s generally more straightforward to use than the Mortar one. You also have a balanced playstyle for both offense and defense. However, Wizard is expensive and can put you in trouble if you overuse it.
What is the best Arena 5 deck in Clash Royale?
Deck composition
- Spear Goblins
- Zap
- Knight
- Mega Minion
- Fireball
- Musketeer
- Battle Ram
- Hog Rider
With an average elixir cost of 3.3, the above deck is arguably the best and most versatile one available in Arena 5. Featuring incredible offensive options with the Hog Rider and the Battle Ram, this deck doesn’t lack in any way when it comes to defense either. With strong options like the Knight, Musketeer, Mega Minion, and Spear Goblins, the enemy will have a very tough time breaking through your towers.
On top of that, the deck also features two tower-damage spells: the Fireball and the Zap, allowing you to chip away at the enemy tower’s health without giving your opponent any chance to block it. Having strong, yet cheap defense is always a plus.
While this deck does lack a building card to distract aggressive enemy troops, the amount of damage available at your disposal should be more than enough to kill those characters before they reach your towers. Remember that this deck is built to put constant pressure on your enemy, and not so much for heavy defense like the previous ones listed.
