Some fantastic mods for Oblivion Remastered are already popping up mere days after the game’s launch, despite the RPG not having official mod support (as confirmed on Bethesda’s support page).
However, fans have reported that mods are backwards compatible, meaning that those made for the original game two decades ago can still work in 2025’s version. And with the addition of plenty new mods being uploaded following the launch of Remastered, too — alongside a huge list of console commands and cheats to use — the possibilities of what you can pull off in the game are endless.
So, if you’d like to spice things up with a few extra tweaks, we’ve compiled the best mods you should be using on PC, and details on how to install them.
The best mods for Oblivion Remastered
Carry Weight Modifier

As is the case in many an RPG, you’re going to be looting and pickpocketing as much as possible, but being weighed down can stop you in your tracks. With the Carry Weight Modifier mod by Erok, depending on the amount of lockpicks you have, your carry weight will decrease by 150.
Better HUD

The Better HUD mod tweaks your compass widget, making it 80% smaller on the screen for better visuals. It also moves certain elements like your HP, Mana, and Stamina bars to the left, clearing the screen space from unnecessary clutter. Depending on your monitor, you can also adjust the settings to fit the 16:9, 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratios.
Ultimate Engine Tweaks
If you’ve been experiencing noticeable performance issues. then the Ultimate Engine Tweaks mod should be your go-to. This mod was made with the goal to improve the overall performance and stability in-game, including removing most stutters, decreasing input latency, and improving picture clarity without no visual loss.

Richer Vendors
Nobody likes having to drag useless equipment around when they’re already wearing a much better item. Though you can sell your gear to vendors, the truth is not all these NPCs can afford them. With this mod, each vendor will have the value of their money tweaked with at least 1000 gold, or 10x their usual amount.
Auto Lockpicking Always Success

You can’t always obtain loot the easy way in the game by simply picking bits up that you find out on the world or on a shelf in one of the Mages Guilds. Some of them are locked in chests and behind doors, which means you’ll need to open them by completing a lockpicking mini-game. Things can get frustrating real quick if you keep messing up, though.
If that’s you, this mod is essential, because it lets you open them without breaking a sweat, meaning you can get back to looting everything you see — including all that cheese.
No Starting Map Markers
This mod is an interesting one for those who want to challenge themselves or want to feel as immersed as possible, as it makes the start of the game feel like many other RPGs by removing the ability to travel to cities right from the get-go.
They will still appear on the map, but just like Skyrim, you’ll have to discover them on your own and actually go to these places first.
Color Corrected ReShade

If you’re someone that has spent hours exploring OG Oblivion, you might notice that 2025 Oblivion has a much grittier, warmer color palette overall.
This mod is a ReShade preset that looks to revert the game back to its original aesthetic. Rather than the orangey hue we see in the remaster today, this mod dials back up the greenish tinge fans will be all too familiar with — perfect for fans who simply prefer the classic appearance.
Adjusted Timescale
The Adjusted Timescale mod is recommended if you often feel like there’s not enough time to explore during the day. With this, you’ll have the option to slow down time and wander around your surroundings at your own pace before it gets dark. It’s perfect if you just want to enjoy the view a little longer while the sun is still bright or try to do as much thing possible before the next day.
Quest NPCs Run
Some of the quests in Oblivion Remastered requires you to follow an NPC to accompany them. Sounds pretty simple, right? Actually, there’s one issue: they can take forever just to walk from one place to another. This mod was created to avoid that kind of situation, making them run instead of walk to help save your time.
No More Repairing

No matter how amazing your weapon is or how powerful your armor looks, there will come a time when you’ll eventually need to repair them. Luckily, there’s no need to go through all that hassle, since the No More Repairing mod does exactly as it says on the tin.
With it installed, you can use your gear infinitely, so you can focus on other aspects of the game and not need to worry about whether or not you’ll have a repair issue on your hands once you’ve entered a cave or are mid-mission.
How to download mods & install them
To get these mods to work in Oblivion Remastered, you’ll first have to install them by downloading them from Nexus and then moving them into a specific folder once they’re on your computer. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do so:
We’d also suggest paying close attention to each Nexus page before you download a mod, as some will require additional steps. If you’re looking at installing the Reshade we highlighted above, for example, you’ll need to install specific software for that. The ‘Quest NPCs Run’ mod also requires you to modify a text file.
While you can also use Nexus’ Vortex Mod Manager (which takes most of the work out for you) to download some mods, there will still be some occasions you’ll have to do some of the installation yourself — so be sure to read each mod page thoroughly before downloading.
Will there ever be official mod support?
For the time being, there’s no clear indication that the Oblivion remaster will ever receive official mod support. Though that’s not to say it’s entirely out of the question.
Skyrim was updated over the years to receive official mod support, even letting players on console browse from lists of popular mods to change the experience on a litany of platforms. Starfield also received official mod support a year after its launch on PC, so anything is possible.
