Clair Obscur Expedition 33 ups the complexity for its fourth character, Sciel, who excels at dishing out huge single-target damage through strategic skill use.
Unlike Maelle, who works best as a reactive front-line attacker, Sciel’s game plan is preemptive. By building damage-boosting Foretell stacks on opponents and juggling Sun and Moon-aspected skills, she can enter her monstrously powerful Twilight Mode.
Due to her nature as a backloaded damage-dealer, Sciel shines brightest in prolonged battles where she’s able to build maximum Foretell and combine them with Twilight’s buff for maximum DPS.
Best character build for Sciel
How to play Sciel
Sciel juggles two key actions: applying and consuming Foretell.

- Using Sun skills adds Foretell to enemies and gives her Sun Charges, boosting her Action Points (AP) when she later consumes Foretell.
- Moon skills do the consuming and grant Moon Charges, which boost AP when applying Foretell.
Get both charges active to enter Twilight, her most powerful state, where her skills hit harder, and Foretell effects double.

Best Attributes for Sciel
Sciel’s most potent role is as a pure damage dealer. Prioritize attributes that increase her attack power, crit chance, and speed.
- Might: The primary stat you want to level for Sciel. The higher your Might, the the higher her damage.
- Agility: Invest in this next. As Sciel’s big damage requires multiple turns of prep, Agility will help increase her actions per turn.
- Luck: Increases Critical hit chance, synergizing well with certain Pictos and weapons.
Best Skills & Rotation for Sciel
Sciel needs a balance of Sun and Moon-aspected skills to make entering Twilight Mode as consistent as possible, while also building Foretell stacks.
That being the case, be careful of ignoring a skill’s element in favor of superior Foretell generation. Likewise, she also has access to some key party buffs, but these largely only become relevant in late game.
Skill Name | Description |
---|---|
Focused Foretell | Applies Foretell stacks; essential for initiating Sun Charge generation. |
Spectral Sweep | Multi-hit attack applying Foretell; scales with Luck for increased stacks. |
Final Path | High-damage skill that applies substantial Foretell; useful for breaking. |
Phantom Blade | Consumes Foretell stacks; deals significant damage and can cause Break. |
Twilight Dance | High single-target damage; extends Twilight state duration. |
Marking Card | Applies Mark status; enhances team damage synergy. |

Rotation
Here’s the best rotation for those skills:
- Use Focused Foretell to start stacking Foretell and gain a Sun Charge.
- Cast Spectral Sweep to build more Foretell stacks quickly.
- Apply Marking Card to boost party-wide damage on the target.
- Use Final Path to apply a heavy burst of Foretell and potentially Break the enemy.
- Activate Phantom Blade to consume stacks, gain a Moon Charge, and deal high damage.
- Finish with Twilight Dance to enter and extend Twilight for massive damage.
Best Pictos & Lumina for Sciel
Sciel’s best skills all require huge AP to perform. Prioritize any Pictos that either increase starting AP or increase its generation.
Pictos
- Rewarding Mark: Grants +2 AP when damaging a Marked enemy; triggers once per turn.
- Exposing Attack: Base attacks apply Defenceless for 1 turn, reducing enemy defense.
- SOS Shell: Automatically applies Shell when Sciel’s health drops below 50%, enhancing survivability.
Lumina
- Burning Shots: 20% chance to inflict Burn on Free Aim shots, adding damage over time.
- Critical Burn: Increases Critical Hit Chance by 25% against Burning enemies, boosting damage potential.
- Dead Energy II: Awards +3 AP upon defeating an enemy, accelerating skill usage.
- Dodger: Grants +1 AP after a Perfect Dodge, encouraging agile play.
- Marking Shots: 20% chance to apply Mark on Free Aim shots, setting up enemies for bonus damage.
