CS2 follows Valorant’s Night Market with new skin feature that’s like Deal or No Deal

Counter-Strike 2 Genesis Terminal on desk

CS2 players have now got a new way to get skins through Genesis Terminals, and it’s basically Deal or No Deal.

Counter-Strike skins have long been a hot commodity. Players want to own certain skins so that they can flex on their friends and teammates, while others want to get their hands on them just so they can trade them.

This has made case openings big business, especially for content creators and pro players. However, there is now a new kid on the block – Genesis Terminals.

The Genesis Terminal feature was added in the September 16 update, alongside a new collection of skins, and the ability to show off your inventory while in the middle of a game.

Counter-Strike 2’s Genesis Terminal is like Deal or No Deal

The terminals have already been likened to Valorant’s Night Market, where you are presented with five random skins and have the ability to purchase one.

However, it has also drawn comparisons with the popular TV show Deal or No Deal because of how you have to reject one skin to reveal other options.

Once you reveal the skin you want, you do have to fork out for it, and they’re not cheap either. A Stat-Trak minimum wear Full Throttle M4 will set you back around $525, a factory new version is a whopping $1500, while a factory new Oligrarch AK-47 is being offered at $370.

The comparisons to Night Market continue with the fact that it can only be used once a week. You’ll have to ‘unseal’ the terminal, which will be free, when it appears in your inventory, and again, you’ll start the game of reject or accept on the new skins.

Some fans have already suggested that the Oligarch skin for the AK-47 looks like Valorant’s ‘Sentinels of Light’ skin for the Vanda, too.

As noted, the 17 skins aren’t the only new thing in this update. Each grenade now has a unique higher-fidelity sound for draw, inspect, pin-pull, and throw.

There have also been various improvements to subtick shooting consistency and the addition of cs_script, a JavaScript-based scripting system for Counter-Strike maps.
