Sony has silently updated the Ghost of Yotei PlayStation page, confirming a series-first combat mechanic and revealing some exciting PS5 Pro enhancements.
On September 24, 2024, Sucker Punch Productions posted Ghost of Yotei’s first trailer, giving players an early look at the new setting, female protagonist, and weapons. Since then, details have been rather scarce, but eagle-eyed fans have spotted an official update that sheds some much-needed light on the Ghost of Tsushima sequel.
As spotted by fans over on the ResetEra gaming forum, Sony updated its Ghost of Yotei PlayStation page on March 30. The description of the game notes that Yotei takes place 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, where a new warrior known as Atsu “rises from the ashes of her homestead.”
Just like Naoe from Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Atsu is “filled with fury and determination, [and] will hunt down those responsible for the death of her family and exact her revenge.”

The updated description states that “every odd job and bounty will provide the coin [Atsu] needs for her journey. But how she fights, survives, and evolves the legend of the Ghost, will be up to you.”
Unlike Ghost of Tsushima’s protagonist, Jin Sakai, who primarily relied on a katana and bow to eliminate his foes, Sony has confirmed that Atsu has a lot of weapons at her disposal. They also confirmed one of the most exciting reveals from the announcement trailer — dual wielding.
“Alongside its stunning new setting, Ghost of Yotei also features new mechanics, gameplay improvements, and even new weapons for Atsu to master, including ōdachi, kusarigama, and dual katanas.”

If the prospect of slicing and dicing your opponents with dual katanas wasn’t exciting enough, the latest update also revealed that Yotei will feature massive sightlines, skies filled with twinkling stars and auroras, and “vegetation that sways believably in the wind.”
While Ghost of Tsushima’s Director’s Cut brought graphical improvements and increased frame rates over the PS4 original, Sony details that “Yotei has been built from the ground up for PlayStation 5 consoles,” and will feature “enhanced performance and visuals on PlayStation 5 Pro.”
