High on Life 2 is only legal way to play this infamous Mario rip-off game about the bible

High on Life 2 is set to be the only way to legally play a notorious 1991 platformer, Bible Adventures, which will be playable in its entirety within the game.

The original High on Life, made by the creators of Rick and Morty, was packed full of hilarious gags and Easter eggs. One of the most infamous was a group of beautifully bad movies that could be watched from start to finish, if you wanted a break from blasting aliens.

Well, the sequel, which arrives in February 2026, is upping the ante and will feature whole video games that can be found and played. This includes Bible Adventures, a Mario Bros 2-inspired game that adapts bible verses into a 2D platformer.

“Yes, you can play the whole thing,” chief creative officer/art director Mikey Spano told IGN. “And it’s not the only emulated game that’s in there.”

In fact, we’ve already seen the emulation in action during a gameplay demo at Gamescom. After Senator Muppy Doo shrinks down and starts messing with the player’s settings, the game begins playing. You can escape after a while, but the devs have confirmed that you can play through the entire thing if you want.

Although he didn’t explain how all of the games will be playable, or which other titles will show up, he also confirmed there are “more than five” included. But when the team was discussing which to include, Bible Adventures was among the first suggestions.

Wisdom Tree

In case you don’t remember, or weren’t born in 1991, Bible Adventures was a notorious NES platformer made by Wisdom Tree that adapted Old Testament stories into Super Mario Bros. 2-style levels. The developer released plenty of religious-themed games back in the day, likely to avoid Nintendo’s strict third-party restrictions.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it wasn’t exactly well-received at the time, and is often ranked as one of the worst video games ever made. The game wasn’t even sold in traditional stores, and now it can’t be played through any legal platform.
