While the rest of the world struggles with Silksong’s brutal difficulty, speedrunners are making light work of it by rolling credits in less than 90 minutes.
Some games are tailor-made for speedruns, and Silksong definitely falls into that category. The original Hollow Knight had an active speedrunning scene (it’s not like fans had anything else to do in the six-year wait), and the sequel’s fluid movement and challenging areas are like catnip to record chasers.
The game even encourages players to try to make short work of it, as there’s an achievement for besting it in less than five hours.
But although the official leaderboards don’t open until October 1, players are already trying to smash through it even quicker, and we’re already seeing some incredible runs.
Speedrunners are beating Silksong in 90 minutes after
Speedrunner BlueSR shared a video on his YouTube channel that showed him playing through Silksong from start to finish in just 1:26:20. This is ridiculously impressive, considering that it usually takes around 22 hours if you stick to the main path.
Of course, to achieve this time, he had to be a little creative. He used various tricks to skip entire sections that saved precious minutes, and he only fought bosses that literally couldn’t be avoided.
Remarkably, the run could have been even quicker, but he also died three times, which cost him valuable time.
By BlueSR’s own admission, this is the second-fastest known Silksong run at the time of writing, and he’s actually the second person to break the 90-minute barrier. It isn’t entirely clear who currently has the record, as leaderboards aren’t live, but he revealed on X that speedrunners have a spreadsheet tracking the times.

He’s not resting on his laurels, either, as he’s already planning to go again and try to claim the number one spot: “Tomorrow, I’ll get a deathless one and the record with it! I believe!”
Silksong has been out for less than a week, and players are already clocking unbelievable speeds. The original Hollow Knight, which is admittedly a much smaller game, could be beaten in around 30 minutes, so we’ll have to wait and see if the community can find ways to get anywhere even close to that.
Team Cherry have already announced a patch that’s set to make the early game a little easier, so this could also help shave some seconds off the times.
