Hollow Knight: Silksong’s launch has shattered records across Steam and Twitch, and now even Hololive CEO Motoaki Tanigo has joined in praising Team Cherry.
Team Cherry’s long-awaited sequel has quickly become one of 2025’s biggest gaming launches, peaking at over 500k concurrent players on Steam and briefly crashing digital storefronts due to overwhelming demand.
On Twitch, Silksong surged to the top of the charts, drawing hundreds of thousands of viewers and cementing itself as the most-watched game on launch day. Player reviews have also been glowing, with more than 15,000 “Overwhelmingly Positive” user reviews on Steam within 24 hours.
Even Hololive’s CEO, Motoaki Tanigo, better known as YAGOO, has praised the game.
Hololive CEO praises Silksong
“When Team Cherry, a small indie developer team from South Australia, shared the trailer for their first game, Hollow Knight, on Reddit, they received many negative comments predicting the game would be an obvious failure,” he wrote in a post via LinkedIn.

“Hollow Knight has since sold more than 15 million copies, becoming one of the most successful indie games ever.” He then pointed to Silksong’s record-breaking debut as proof of what can be achieved through persistence:
“They had a dream and a vision. While listening to all feedback, negative and positive, they believed in their project and made it a reality, achieving even more than they could have ever dreamed.”
YAGOO also highlighted how Hololive talents are now already streaming the game on YouTube, before drawing a direct comparison to his own story. “For us at COVER, we might be in our ‘Hollow Knight’ era compared to our beginnings, but look forward to our ‘Silksong’ one.”
