How to get Ram Horns & craft Abyssal Whip in RuneScape Dragonwilds

The Abyssal Whip is an essential item you’ll need to craft early on in RuneScape Dragonwilds, but you’ll need to track down some Ram Horns to make it.

After being stealthily released on April 15, thousands of players are jumping into RuneScape Dragonwilds, a new survival game set in the iconic MMO universe. If you’re going to survive long enough to build a base, on top of upgrading your skills, you’re going to need powerful weapons and gear.

Wild Anima and Adhesive are useful for upgrading your weapons and armor, but one of the best to get right away is the Abyssal Whip. Gathering all of the components needed is no easy task and the one that players are struggling to track down is Ram Horns, so here’s where to get them.

Where to find Ram Horns in RuneScape Dragonwilds

Ram Horns must be looted from defeated Rams, which can be found in the Stormtouched Highlands of Ashenfall. This level 4 area can be found in the top left-hand corner of the map, which we’ve marked below:

Here, you’ll find Rams wandering around in the wild, so you just need to hunt one down and slay it to claim a Ram Horn. Rams are a completely different beast from regular sheep, so make sure you’re looking for the right animal.

Be careful, though, as the Highlands are full of hazards, including a poisonous swamp, so make sure you’re prepared before venturing in.

How to get Abyssal Whip

Ram Horns are just one component needed to make the Abyssal Whip, but the first thing you need to do is unlock the recipe. Here’s a step-by-step guide to the process:

Craft the Anvil

The recipe for Abyssal Whip will appear in your inventory automatically once you unlock the Smithing Anvil, which you can do by levelling up your Smithing skill.

Defeat the Abyssal Demon

There are multiple components needed, including Abyssal Spines, which are earned by defeating the Abyssal Demon. This boss only spawns in the Whispering Swamp, at the location we’ve marked on the map below:

You shouldn’t have too much trouble killing the boss, especially if you use the Windstep spell to get to higher ground. The monster can’t reach very high, so you’re free to keep spamming it with arrows to make the fight a breeze.

Craft the Abyssal Whip

Once you’ve gathered all of the resources you need, simply head to the nearest Smithing Anvil. From here, you’ll be able to combine the ingredients to create the powerful weapon, permanently adding it to your inventory.
