How to hide your helmet & armor in Monster Hunter Wilds

MHW Helmet

Hiding your helmet in Monster Hunter Wilds is a must, especially for players who have poured hours into carefully crafting the perfect character. After all, Wilds features the most robust character customizations we’ve seen from the series since World.

Unlike other Monster Hunter games, Wilds puts a huge emphasis on its story – something noted in our glowing review. One of the biggest parts of the story is the fully voiced Hunters, where even the player’s avatar can now interact with NPCs like Gemma and Alma.

As you can imagine, you don’t want to get caught wearing that freakish Rompopolo helmet during cutscenes. So, whether you’re a fashion hunter looking to show off your pretty face, or just want to use a layered piece of armor, using this feature is a must.

To hide your helmet and other armor pieces in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Head over to your tent. Either at any of the game’s base camps or pop-up camps.
  2. Scroll across to the Appearance Menu (far right).
  3. Select Equipment Appearance.
  4. Choose all the pieces of armor you wish to hide on your Hunter.

It’s important to note that you can also change the color of your armor pieces from this menu. This is particularly good for fashion hunters who love looking their best before they go bludgeoning a poor monster to death.

Layered armor pieces can also be equipped from this menu. So, if you find that your new Chatacabra or Arkveld armor isn’t to your liking, then you can always use any layered pieces you have to cover up uglier sets.
