Cliffhanger Games have remained quiet about their upcoming Black Panther game, but a leak has revealed some major details to get fans excited, including the news that you’ll get to make a crucial decision.

Back in 2023, EA announced they were releasing a Black Panther game, developed by the brand-new team Cliffhanger Games. It’s set to be a single-player adventure that follows the titular character in Wakanda, but new details have been few and far between in the years since.

Now, a fresh leak has revealed a whole host of details and features, and you’ll have a vital choice to make early on.

Black Panther game lets you choose the main character

According to a report from trusted leaker ‘TheGhostOfHope,’ you’ll actually get to decide who takes on the Black Panther mantle at the start of the game.

The candidates are reportedly made up of familiar faces that fans will recognize. This includes T’Challa, who was portrayed by Chadwick Boseman in the MCU, and his sister, Shuri, who took up the role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

There will also be more out-there options, like T’Challa’s grandfather, Azari, leader of the Jabari Tribe, M’Baku, and even Killmonger, the iconic villain who was raised outside of Wakanda but returned to claim the mask.

The leaker went on to mention that your choice of character will create “unique stories, missions, and dynamics” within the story, which change based on your actions. For example, given that Killmonger would have likely had to become the Black Panther by force, his relationship with the Wakandan higher-ups would be drastically different from T’Challa or Shuri.

On top of that major feature, the report also revealed some more details about the game that were previously unknown.

Each character will have their own unique set of gadgets and weapons to choose from, likely to support different playstyles. Meanwhile, the combat itself will combine African martial arts with the superhuman strength the hero is known for.

You’ll also get to explore many different cities and other areas of Wakanda, so expect to see plenty of different tribes with different beliefs and cultures along the way.

There is still no official release date for EA’s Black Panther project, as the devs mentioned there was still a “long road ahead” when it was announced in 2023. But with details finally starting to emerge, fans will be hoping for more very soon.
