“Infinite damage” Borderlands 4 build proves Vex is strongest Vault Hunter

Borderlands 4 Vex Infinite Damage

Borderlands 4 players have uncovered an “infinite damage” build with Vex that doesn’t even require you to be at the level cap.

Vault Hunters are finally diving into a new Borderlands experience as hundreds of thousands get familiar with the new cast of playable characters. While we have our own tier list and optimal builds for them all, one entirely broken discovery has just soared off the charts and into the stratosphere.

We already knew Vex was among the strongest picks in the game, but now her spot atop the rankings is solidified. It turns out, just one ability on her skill tree can break the game wide open, allowing for an infinitely stacking buff to eviscerate bosses in the blink of an eye.

It’s a mind-melting discovery and one that’s certainly breaking the early Borderlands 4 meta. Here’s the full rundown before it’s inevitably patched.

Borderlands 4 Vex deals billions of damage
NickTew was able to clear billions of damage with this “infinite damage” combo.

Insane Vex build melts Borderlands 4 bosses in an instant

YouTuber NickTew was among the first to showcase the true potential of this absurd Vex build. Even when playing on Ultimate Vault Hunter Rank 5 – the highest difficulty tier in the game, where enemies have 350% extra health – they were able to effectively one-shot even the toughest bosses.

All that’s required is a single throwing knife with the Penetrator Augment. What this does is ensure any further damage to the impacted target is guaranteed to be critical for five seconds.

Now, this is a random drop, and in a game with millions of variables, it could take quite a while to get your hands on one. But if you do get lucky, combining it with Vex’s Bloodletter skill is how you make it shine.

This skill gives Critical Hits a chance to apply bleed and stack 30% of Gun Damage per second. Given the Throwing Knife guarantees Critical Hits, it essentially causes an infinite loop. The knife applies critical, the skill further applies critical and damage, and it all just keeps triggering in an endlessly stacking loop until a target is dead, which usually only takes a few seconds.

Demonstrating the limits on a test dummy, NickTew managed to crack damage numbers in the billions. Making it all the more insane, they did so without an optimized endgame build. In fact, they’d only spent 15 skill points, meaning there’s plenty of room to make it even more impactful.

“Literal one shot. This character is completely busted. Abuse it while you can,” the content creator said.

When we caught up with Borderlands 4 developers ahead of launch, they didn’t mention much on the nerfing front. Instead, they were more eager to identify what’s weak and buff it in line with everything else.

Though there’s no denying, in this instance, the Throwing Knife and Vex ability combo is an outlier, and almost certainly in store for a patch in the coming days. Don’t expect this game-breaking build to be around for all too long.
