Marvel Rivals has some competition thanks to new PVP shooter Mecha Break

Mecha Break Steam Player Count

Relative unknown Mecha Break has shot up the Steam Charts during its Open Beta and briefly eclipsed titanic titles like Marvel Rivals.

Mecha games have quietly simmered in the background of the gaming space for years with a dedicated base of hardcore fans willing to try anything produced in the genre. However, the recent mainstream success of FromSoftware’s Armored Core 6 – and a protracted campaign for a third entry in the Titanfall franchise – might indicate that players are fianlly ready to embrace how cool it is to step into the cockpit of a giant combat robot.

If more proof was needed, look no further than Amazing Seasun Games’ upcoming multiplayer title Mecha Break. The PVP Shooter is in the midst of its second Open Beta, and player counts are going gangbusters.

The early access offering capped out at an impressive 317,522 concurrent players according to SteamDB, and that player count is holding. The unexpected hype has kept the title in Steam’s top five over the weekend, ousting some staples in the charts.

Mecha Break soars through Steam charts in Open Beta

Initially pointed out by PCGamesN, Mecha Break briefly overtook the incredibly successful Marvel Rivals when it hit its peak on February 23, 2025. In the following days, Mecha Break hit 24-hour peaks of 303,991 and 256,783, respectively.

These saw the game feature in the number four slot of Steam’s most-played games, beating out regulars in the charts like Apex Legends and GTA Online. With pre-release numbers like that, it could be one to watch.

So, what does Mecha Break offer players? The Open Beta features 3v3 and 6v6 multiplayer showdowns made infinitely more chaotic by the game’s breakneck movement and third-person shooting mechanics.

You can also customize your combat mech with new colors and patterns. Certain inaccessible menu options in the Open Beta hint at the potential for parts and weapon swapping in the full release, which is a must for fans of the genre.

Despite its surge in player count, Mecha Break is suffering a little in the player rating department, with only 34% of its 6,377 reviews being positive. Based on a majority of the reviews, it appears to be suffering from its own success after the influx of eager players caused issues with the game’s servers.

Developer Amazing Seasun Games has attempted to placate players with some free in-game items while they make moves to accommodate them. The full game is scheduled for launch in Spring 2025, and the devs should have a clear picture of how much stress their servers will need to take when it does.
