Monster Hunter Wilds Gillopod location & how to catch

Gillopod monster hunter wild design

Dareel’s Special Research Report isn’t always easy to complete in Monster Hunter Wilds, especially when he asks you to capture the Gillopod.

While it’s certainly fun looking to fight all the monsters, craft the best Light Bowgun build, or hunt for resources to upgrade your armor, sometimes completing a little side quest is the best way to grab a bit more money or explore some of the smaller wildlife in Monster Hunter Wilds.

One way to do this is through Dareel’s Special Research Report, which tasks you with capturing multiple monsters. Unfortunately, the last one is the hardest to find, otherwise known as the Golisopod. So, here’s how to find it, catch it, and what you’ll get for your efforts.

If you haven’t completed Dareel’s Special Research Report yet, you can find it in the Windward Plains Base Camp, though you’ll have to complete a few research quests before you get to the Golisopod.

Where to find Gillopods

You’ll find Gillopods on the path between areas 7 and 10 at the bottom of Wyveria, which is unlocked post-game.

Once you’re down there, you’ll need to be careful, as Gillopods look almost identical to Pollopods. So, keep an eye out for the light purple creatures with glowing orange eyes and blue veins, these are Gillopod.

We found them stuck to the wall on area 8, and found them to be pretty hard to spot, so keep an eye out around areas 7 and 10, and scan the walls. There should be a few in one spot.
