Ninja Gaiden 4’s most iconic weapons have been forged into real swords, bringing Ryu Hayabusa’s Dragon Sword and new protagonist Yakumo’s Takeminakata out of the game and into reality.
The project was carried out by Xbox, Team NINJA and PlatinumGames, in partnership with master swordsmith Yuya Nakanishi and the Masahiro Tantoujou Sword Forge. It took months of work using traditional Japanese swordsmithing techniques to recreate the blades as more than simple replicas.
Legendary weapons
The Dragon Sword has long been central to the series as the ancestral weapon of the Dragon Clan. In Ninja Gaiden 4, it combines with the Eye of the Dragon jewel to become the True Dragon Sword, giving Ryu the power to face new threats.
Yakumo’s Takeminakata ties into the Raven Clan’s tradition of cursed blades. Through Bloodbind Ninjutsu, Yakumo channels life force into the weapon and other accursed arms, creating a destructive style that defines his role in the story.

From the Dragon Sword’s polished finish to the raven feather detail on the Takeminakata, the weapons were built to reflect their in-game design while staying true to the traditions of Japanese craftsmanship.
With both Ryu and Yakumo leading the way, Ninja Gaiden 4 is the next chapter in the series, and we got the chance to play it at Gamescom 2025 – check out our preview here. It will launch on October 21, on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, as well as landing on Game Pass on day one.
