The highly sought-after Prismatic Evolutions set’s scarcity has caused a dramatic shift in the hobby with trusted retailers resorting to “scalping” while others change their policies to discourage the fervor.
The possibility of striking it rich with a few rare pulls has whipped resellers into a frenzy causing brawls to break out among those attempting to secure potential hits. The hype around Pokemon TCG products has made it hard for more casual collectors and players to engage with the hobby owing to the rapid pace at which stock is being bought. As a result, tensions are simmering between genuine collectors and resellers.
Those tensions bubbled over online after TikToker Pokecentral posted a video in which they cleared a store out of their Prismatic Evolutions stock and preceded to destroy the products. Pokemon TCG fans have condemned the content and called the creator out in the comments.
Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions ETBs go up in flames
In the video, Pokecentral heads into a TCG store and picks up a bundle of Prismatic Evolutions ETBs for a questionable $200 a pop. The haul is revealed to have cost just over $1700 and given the insane prices of the set’s coveted Umbreon EX card, it was likely worth even more.
We’ll never know, of course, because Pokecentral took the boxes home, doused them in flammable liquid, and set them ablaze. The careless disregard for products that professional footballers are giving away game jerseys for has caused a bit of an uproar.

In a repost of the original video on Instagram with over 20,000 likes and 600 comments, Pokemon fans expressed their discontent. “People like this are ruining the hobby,” one user complained. “I’m trying to find these boxes and I can’t because of guys like this,” another replied.
Others have taken a different outlook on Pokecentral dancing over the smoldering corpses of valuable Eeveelutions. “Thank you for using deflationary economics to boost the value of Prismatic Evolutions,” a Pokemon TCG collector offered. Many users who were lucky enough to already get their hands on the set have offered similar thanks.
