RuneScape Dragonwilds has arrived in early access, and the devs have revealed a full roadmap of content that they plan to add to the new co-op survival game.
On April 15, Jagex shocked everyone by shadowdropping RuneScape Dragonwilds, a new survival experience set in the same universe as the iconic MMO. It’s currently in early access on PC, but while the base version is packed with features, there’s plenty more to come.
Here’s the full roadmap of upcoming content for RuneScape Dragonwilds.
RuneScape Dragonwilds roadmap
Jagex has revealed a ton of content and features they plan to add, however, there is currently no timeline for any of it. Given that the game has only just dropped, the first port of call will be making sure it runs smoothly and any issues are addressed, but they’ll be turning their attention to new updates down the line.
New region: Fellhollow
Dragonwilds’ map already has a number of locations to explore, but a brand-new region is in the works called Fellhollow. This isn’t an area we’ve seen before in the RuneScape universe, but it’s described as being “suspended between life and death,” so it sounds pretty dark and dank.
On the bright side, you’ll have the returning character Death to help you navigate the many dangers, including ghosts, skeletons, and even undead ogres. This region also brings a new dragon to battle — Imaru, the soul-eater — who you’ll run into throughout your journey.

New skills
As you explore and survive in Ashenfall, you level up certain skills to unlock new abilities. There are seven currently available, but there are three more coming in future updates:
Related
- Magic
- Ranged
- Farming
Magic will likely do exactly what it says on the tin, buffing the power of your spells and giving you access to new ones. Meanwhile, Ranged will focus on your proficiency with long-ranged weapons like a Bow, while Farming will streamline your resource gathering.
RuneScape Roots
The early access roadmap shared by the devs also mentioned an update called “RuneScape Roots.” While very little information was provided, we know it will contain fresh quests to complete, gear to unlock, and even music.
Based on the name alone, this will all likely be content inspired by previous games in the series, such as RuneScape 3 & Old School RuneScape. So, if you’re a long-time fan, expect to see and hear plenty of items that you’ll recognize.

Other content
Aside from these main additions, there are also a number of small features in development, including:
- Lesser dragons (new enemy type)
- Dragon Slayer gear
- Masterwork weapons
- More base-building options
- Hardcore modes
- Creative mode
- New animals
- New vaults
- Extra crafting tiers
- Higher skill caps
Improvements
On top of all the new content listed above, Jagex has also committed to releasing constant updates and improvements to the following systems:
- Tutorials and messages
- Combat
- Performance
- Multiplayer
- Difficulty
- Lighting
- Weather
We’ll likely get more information about each of these features, as well as when they will arrive, in the coming weeks and months. Be sure to check back here, as we’ll be updating this page with all the latest details.
