Xbox is about to get even more portable, and no, we don’t mean the ROG Ally handheld coming soon. This time, the Xbox is coming to a car near you.
In a partnership between LG and Xbox, it’s been revealed that Xbox Cloud Gaming (as a Beta) is coming soon to select cars in a partnership with LG, so those in the backseat of certain cars will be able to enjoy their favorite Xbox games on the go.
Since it’s Xbox Cloud Gaming, this means you’ll be able to enjoy games like Gears of War Reloaded, Black Ops 7, The Outer Worlds 2, and even Forza Horizon 5, which feels incredibly fitting to be played inside a real car.
Microsoft partners with LG to bring Xbox games to cars
As revealed in a trailer titled ‘This is an Xbox that goes vroom’, we got a glimpse at the upcoming feature for internet-connected cars like the Kia EV3, which is already available. We’ll also see it arriving on the EV5, EV6, and the new Kia Sportage. Though more cards are likely to be added as they become compatible.
This will be built in with LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP) and will allow passengers in internet-connected vehicles to stream and play directly from the Xbox app, making use of Game Pass and more. Plus, if you’re charging your vehicle, the drive can settle into a game too.
“Our work with LG is the latest example of Xbox expanding to new places, building on partnerships that already bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to mobile devices, PCs, and TVs,” explained vice presidernt of Xbox maketing Christopher Lee who goes on to say, “By adding vehicles to the mix, we’re giving players more choice than ever in how they enjoy their games.”
