Why are some characters silent in Genshin Impact?
HoYoverseHoyoverse has cited “recording arrangements” as the official explanation for why so many characters are muted in Genshin Impact.
However, many fans speculate that the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike has played a role. This strike involves voice actors advocating for fair wages and protection against AI voice replication.
Since Formosa Interactive, the studio that handles Genshin’s English voiceovers, is part of the strike, many actors can’t legally record for them.
To address this, Hoyoverse has begun transitioning some recordings to other studios, like Sound Cadence. This also explains the recasting of Kinich‘s original voice actor.
